You know those moments in life that instantly etch a special impression into your mind, the ones that years later can be revisited with just a passing thought? The ones where you knew exactly what everyone was wearing, what the smell in the air was, and the conversation being had? Well this weekend provided one of these long lasting moments, when my baby brother asked his high school sweetheart to be his wife. Lucky for us, all of this happened in the meadow just behind the cabin. It was warm, the crickets were doing their thing on the tips of grass blades & champagne was passed around in mini dixie cups. These two compliment one another beautifully, and although their love story already has many chapters, I’m certain the best is yet to come for them.
“and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh.” Mark 10:8
The calendar is telling us that summer’s end is just around the corner. Although it usually lingers until early October in our neck of the woods, we are living like its Labor Day and soaking up every last ray. We’ve spent as many weekends up in the Sierra’s as we possibly could this summer. We pass our days hiking, roasting mellows, and playing in the lake. Fresh air and sand between your toes is just good for the soul.
