When Alex of Daphne Mae Photography asked the babe and I to do a film shoot, we were delighted. But then she asked if she could do it in our home and all the heart eye emojis floated through my mind. What’s better than being barefoot in your own kitchen with a half nakey baby, sipping a latte, and chatting it up with the awesome gal behind the camera? Not much.
We were so lucky to have found Alex a few months ago to shoot Dawson’s 3 month pictures. They turned out beautiful, and we haven’t looked back. I’ve told her she’s stuck with us.
These here are no exception, they’re organic yet enduring. Timeless and raw. The kind of pictures that I will likely stumble upon decades from now and be immediately transported back to that morning. Remembering what music we had playing, the conversation being had about rain, how I couldn’t find Sophie the Giraffe anywhere, how Dawson was undoubtedly ready for a nap by the last shots, and how much love I have for this little man of mine.
The fact that they’re taken in our home is everything. This is where my work is done, my office per se. Where I pray over my son, and clean up cheerios from the floor. Where he gets smothered in kisses, and I get covered in slobber. Where he learns a little each day, and I learn a lot.
