Ah what a weekend it was! We celebrated our baby boy’s second birthday with a family party on Saturday & a little shindig with his closest buddies on Sunday. Watching our sweet Dawson grow has been such a joy for us these past two years & celebrating him comes pretty darn easy. I wish I would have been better about getting more photos of Dawson & our guests during the parties, but as it usually goes, you get swept up in the fun and I simply forgot.
Although our little guy has an impressive list of ‘favorite things’, balloons is certainly in the top-five; So this was an easy choice. I wanted it to be an updated version of a classic little kid’s birthday party with plenty of helium, sprinkles, and a borderline cheesy mismatch of colors. I was able to make his balloon arch myself with a couple hundred, multiple size balloons, and about 8 hours. My fingers may never be the same, but it was worth it. A lot of the other decor were just things I had around the house and in the pantry– thank goodness for a plethora of cake plates and almonds, which made throwing the table together pretty simple. I ordered sandwiches from a local bakery, made a couple side dishes and called it a day. Each year the idea of simplicity becomes much more enticing, next year may very well be a donut, a candle & a really enthusiastic rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’, which I know Dawson would love just the same.
It was such a fun weekend full of family, friends, and sugar-filled toddlers, and we loved every minute of it.
