Looking back, the morning of Dawson’s fiesta was quite the blur. It was loud, busy, messy, and borderline chaotic. Thankfully, we were lucky enough to have the lovely Alex, of Daphne Mae Photography come a bit early and gather some shots of the birthday boy. What a blessing that visit was. It forced Derek and I to slow down a bit and remember the reason for the ruckus in the first place. She has a way about her that Alex; she’s calming and reassuring, and has all the makings of a stellar photographer.
With that said, my boy undoubtedly likes to play by his own behavioral rules and despite our best efforts, he wasn’t interested. I always do that to myself; I create this picturesque idea in my mind about what family photos will be. An über sweet baby who wants nothing more than to nuzzle into his Mama’s chest while smiling delicately at the camera, having his sweetness captured on film forever. Yea right, I actually kind of laughed out loud while typing that. I suppose that goes to show the skill of the gal behind the camera, because she still manages to capture my boy just beautifully.
All in all, the day was beautiful & we’re beyond thankful for these photos that will forever remind us of the crazy goodness of that January day… and of course, the undeniable feistiness of my darling Dawson. My parents & husband insist he inherited that feistiness from someone, but I haven’t a clue who they may be referring to.
